My first podcast interview!

Food is medicine and about naturopathic medicine

Food is medicine and about naturopathic medicine

Earlier in the fall, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the chair of Slow Food Portland, Russell Ruscigno, and long-time Slow Food member, Kevin Scribner as a guest on their podcast. It was a delightful afternoon of stimulating conversation all about fish.

These gentlemen are on a mission to create more awareness about sustainability in the fish world. I know for me it’s not quite as obvious how fish travels to get into the market and onto my plate and something that I’m learning more and more about.

Kevin used to be a fisherman in Alaska and Russell spent his life in restaurants, so both have a wealth of knowledge about the challenges of making sure we’re getting fresh, wild fish that has been caught and delivered in a responsible way.

You can listen in by clicking here (scroll down to the player). The conversation is light. Think Car Talk meets the fish world. We spoke about:

  • the difference between omega 3 and omega 6 and the nutritional benefits of wild fish
  • what naturopathic medicine is and the training required
  • good food being the best natural medicine

On the note of podcasts, I’ve been creating a series of conversations with Slow Food and will be sure to share them here when they start to go live come January. It’s a project I’m very excited about!

I hope you’ve been having a nice December thus far and are getting moments to enjoy the season even amongst any hustle and bustle. I’ll be back next week with a final recipe before the new year!

Warmly,

Antonella
